First iPad Commercial Debuts at Oscars

In typical Apple (AAPL) form, Jobs & Co. took advantage of the 2010 Oscars to unveil the first iPad television commercial. Apple has aired iPhone commercials during the Oscars at the past, and has debuted products using high-profile television spots before. Many bloggers had predicted an iPad spot during the Oscars.

The television spot was relatively simple, running only 30-seconds and featuring a barrage of MTV-style editing spots of the iPad on a lap, being used to read emails, view pictures, browse the webs, look at maps, and more.

The song featured in the commercial is entitled "There Goes my Love" by Denmark blues-rock band The Blue Van, a now-famous group that describes their music as heavily influenced by guitar-driven rock since the 50s through today, but "not the 80s".

Apple announced the US iPad release date just days ago. The highly-anticipated tablet is due to hit shelves in the US, and though an international iPad release date has yet to be announced, Apple has indicated the iPad will land overseas in "late April". Apple executives are meeting with UK telecom companies this week to iron out remaining details for the overseas launch.
