The iPad is Really Magical After All

Apple CEO Steve Jobs may think the iPad is a "truly magical and revolutionary product," but we bet he didn't expect birds to fly out of his tablet computer. Shinya, otherwise known as "Salary Magician" demonstrates his latest performance on a street corner in Japan.

With entertaining animations and some carefully timed prestidigitation, Shinya demonstrates a brand new use for the iPad: magician's assistant. It might have been even more interesting to see him cut the iPad in half on a stage, however these tricks are worth a watch.

The real life assistant would be Kai, listed as the iPad movie designer. All of the animations are timed with Shinya's tricks to create illusions and explore a theme revolving around the history of communication.

Apple fans camped out overnight and waited in lines up to 1,200 people long at Apple's flagship retail store in Tokyo to get their hands on an iPad. The device was released in nine countries on May 28 to much fanfare. Photos of Japanese iPad buyers and videos hit YouTube immediately as the device was officially launched.

Job's company is performing some magic tricks of its own, having sold over two million iPads in the first two months of distribution. Shares of Apple are trading at over $260 a piece and analysts expect that robust mobile sales will continue to increase revenues.

I must admit, the iPad was a bigger boom than I expected. I understand all of Apple's products are a monstrous success due to their innovative technology and impressive marketing, but I guess I personally just wasn't impressed with the iPad. I'm too obsessed with my MacBook Pro to try something new. That said, these magic tricks are really fun to watch. Thanks for posting.
