Netflix iPad App Now Supports Video Out
Apple's iPad dock connector to VGA adapter just became more useful. Netflix has issued an update to its popular video streaming application that adds the software to a list of apps permitted to send video through the adapter to other screens.

Video coming out of a VGA, component, or composite iPad dongle can be hooked up to an external monitor, video projector, or television. Maximum resolution of the picture is 1024 x 768 using the optional $29 dock connector to VGA adapter.
The update to Netflix 1.0.2 also includes crash fixes to improve stability. Although there are other hardware options available that stream HD Netflix to televisions, the portability and long battery life of an iPad makes it a great movie watching solution. Now with the ability to hook the iPad up to a TV with one cable, users can easily bring their instant viewing queue to a bigger screen anywhere.
The Netflix iPad app requires a Netflix subscription to view movies and TV show content. The software is available for free on the App Store and streams video over Wi-Fi and 3G connections. Subscribers paying at least $8.99 per month can access unlimited television and movie content from the service and manage their DVD queue on-the-go.
For those with a limited 3G data plan, beware. Watching a half hour of streaming video using Netflix on a 3G connection eats up around 140 MB of data.
Netflix has been available on the iPad since Apple's US launch of the tablet computer in April. Netflix has moved to several devices and provides streaming video apps for multiple devices including Wii, Playstation 3, XBox, and Mac or Windows computers.
