Why can't I pre-order the iPad at this time?

Pre-ordering for the Apple iPad is available as of March 12th, 2010.

A lot of users are confused as to why Apple has not yet started offering pre-ordering for the Apple iPad, with release of the WiFi-only versions coming next month.

As of Feb 15th, the FCC has yet to approve the iPad.

Until the iPad is approved by the FCC, Apple cannot legally sell or offer pre-ordering on the device.

We expect that once Apple has obtained FCC approval for the iPad, pre-ordering will follow shortly thereafter.
