3G activation!!!

Forgot I had cellular data off in the settings, signed up for 3G over WiFi no problem. As soon as I turned on 3G it activated. Anyone else have success the other way around? I mean did you have NO Wifi available and sign up over 3G only?

Insert your SIM card into your iPhone 3G. You'll need to use the SIM ejector tool, found inside your black user guide in the box. If you've bought or upgraded to a new Pay & Go iPhone, you'll need to use the new SIM card that came with it to get the 12 months unlimited internet browsing and Wi-Fi.The first-generation iPhone was activated by users at home, with the aid of iTunes. For the iPhone 3G, that process has changed. Users will now activate their iPhones, and presumably switch phone number to the new device, in AT&T and Apple Stores.
