iBooks Page-turning Lag?

I've noticed that the page turning seems to lag too much. It happens when I "curl" the corner of the page and also when I touch the right margin to turn the page. I wait for all the little dots to fill up along the bottom of the page, but it still lags. Is anyone else having this issue? I am disappointed because one of the main reasons I bought an iPad is to use it as an ereader! :(

I notice this too. Think I just got so used to Stanza - one tap and you're on the next page. Apple spent so much time simulating the turning of the page, etc. Wish they would just simplify things for those of us who want to get down with the business of reading.

I do like the ability to dim the screen really low. There are situations where I'd like to make the normal home screen and other apps that dim.

Yeah, I am spoiled by Stanza, too. In fact, I really wish Stanza would make an app for the iPad--that would be my ideal book reader. Unfortunately, according to the Lexcycle website, they are not planning to make an iPad app. Since they were bought by Amazon, it wouldn't make sense to divert their Kindle customers to Stanza, I guess...

Bookshelf is pretty good and has been ported to iPad. The interface isn't quite as pretty as iBooks, but it works well and handles a variety of formats, not just epub.

I've used Bookshelf for a long time on my iPhone. The biggest advantage to me is that you can download a whole folder of books (several hundred files in my case) and keep them in the same folders as they were on your computer. It's great if you keep your ebooks organized by author or genre and prefer keeping them in that same order.

Re: iBooks Page-turning Lag?

My problem is that I have a bunch of books that I downloaded to the Stanza app, and I don't have any easy way of transferring them into another ebook reader--iBooks, Bookshelf, etc. I've been to the Lexcycle website and tried using their program to locate the books hidden in the iTunes backup, but it really doesn't work very well at all.
I would much prefer to use iBooks, since it looks nicer than Stanza on the iPad.
How does Bookshelf look at the double-pixel resolution?

Wait, why not just tap to turn the page if you don't want the animation? Mine does that just fine.

Bookshelf was ported to iPad, so there is no double pixelation.

I've used Stanza myself, but when I've used it, I had to have the books on my computer and then open them with the Stanza desktop app, then bring them onto my iPhone. Did you use a different method? I may be able to help, let me know.

Also lags, even without the animation. Not a lot, but enough to interrupt the flow of my reading.
