Map issue

Anyone have any ideas here?

I moved about 3 months ago to a new city. My map application keeps finding me at the old home, not the new home. The funny thing is that both my wife and my Iphones find the current home on wifi, but the ipad does not.

I have notified skyhook wireless, but since it is not all devices, it should not be their issue.

Any ideas for help?

Paul

Is there a wifi hotspot nearby you could connect to? Maybe that would give the location service a kick in the pants?

(I have the opposite problem. My iPod stopped locating itself a few months ago, but my iPad is right on the money.)

Interesting problem. Have you tried searching the support forums at the apple site? They have a lot of threads discussing problems with wifi; maybe others are having similar issues.

I think this has to be Skyhook. Any chance the iPad uses a different version/server/etc from the other devices?

It's not like the iPad can be caching it, since you didn't have your iPad until you were at your new location.

Read my post on the General section. This is probably because when Google passed with their Street View car, they tagged your router as being from that location.
Try this: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Counting that google doesn't use the location only via MAC, but also IP, that should fix it. Please let me know if it works.

Nope, still having issues after a reset. I think it is a Skyhook issue. I took the iPad to another wifi location and it worked, so it is definitely something with the location of my router. I am trying again with skyhook and we will see. Aniyother ideas?

Did Skyhook ever respond the first time around?

No, but the must have done something. The iPad now says my location can not be found instead of the old location.

Have you tried taking it to the Genius Bar?

Re: Map issue

no, but I have been in constant contact with Apple. They have been more than helpful, calling me every other night to see what is working, and what is not. They are now confident that it is an issue with Skyhook and have put me in touch with someone there. The problem is still occurring, so I do not know what to do, but I am waiting on updates now from Skyhook..
