Missing apps from Home screen

There are a couple of apple apps that I feel were missing from the Home screen of the iPad... I would to have the Clock, calculator, and the voice recorder on the iPad. Some other apple apps like stocks, weather and compass could be useful...

I wonder why they were left out of the presentation. Why would apple leave these off?

Yeah, I hear ya.

I'm not sure exactly what I'd like to see there, but it is a little odd that they presented it looking so devoid of apps/activity.

They must have thought it would portray a leaner image. Otherwise, they're just making it look limited.

Filling that thing up with apps would be a mess. But that's whats going to happen eventually...

Sure those will be there in the production model. Simplicity looks better (and runs faster) on stage.

Looking at pictures iPad will only handle 20 apps per screen plus 4 in the dock. They look really spaced out.

The iPad does have a built-in compass, so that will be a waste if there's no compass app like on the 3GS. It is going to make Apple look weird if they ship it without the weather, stocks, etc.
Did the original iPhone also lack some apps during the keynote? If it did, that probably means that the production model is likely to ship with those apps. Anyone know?

Yea, agreed... I can't see them shipping it without those core iPhone apps. I mean, why would they?

If memory serves, stocks, weather, (not compass obviously) etc were in the iPhone keynote.

The iPhone keynote demo had all apps on the home screen except for Voice Memos, Compass, iTunes, App Store, and YouTube. Obviously some of those were only included on newer iPhones...

Yes all the included apps were in the iPhone demo in 2007. iTunes wasn't there...

Youtube was only announced like a week before the iPhone came out. They didn say anything about it at the keynote.

Who's worried about a shortage of apps? There are countless apps. Forget about it!
