iPad screen has llight greyish dots running around the screen, anyone else have this?

Just noticed my iPad screen has dots, dot smudges, about 1/2 inch from the black border, a little under an inch apart. They show up on an all white test page, in safari when the screen is mostly white, you can really see them on the right side.

Looks like holes in a sheet of paper, they run all the way around the screen, you would almost think they are finger prints. Anyone else noticed this? I swear they were not there before.

I haven't heard about something like this before - I would head to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store and have them check it out. As the new iPhone drops tomorrow and Apple stores will be swamped for at least a week, try to go in today if you can!

This is the first I've seen reported of this anywhere. Are they there at all times, or intermittently?

No, there all the time. They are uniform in distance between each one, and from the sides. I do have a Zagg screen on it. I Don't think it is that, been on since day one.

As I say, had this for a while, it is a 3G, first thing I did was download red blue white green black pictures to look for dead pixs. I think I would have noticed it. First time I noticed it was when I came back from sitting at the airport, dropping someone off.

I'd make a genius bar appointment. Sounds like you're owed a new iPad.

Well I feel dumb. I have a zagg invisible shield on the iPad. Haven't removed it, but, looks like it is the problem I have a hardcandy sleeves, the pattern matches the inner lid. I been using it from day one, never out of the house. Last week, long trip airport, then 200 miles drive, another 200, back to the airport. My guess is the heat, you can't go out here in Virginia,101F, health warnings, along with the hardcardy case being pressed in a computer bag, touched the outer parts of the screen, this sucks.

You can click on the case's open pic and see the waffle pattern.

I can't seem to get the spots off. My guess is going to need a new shield, and a cloth between the iPad and the front lid.

I have that problem with the Invisible Shield as well. If you use them in conjunction with another case, they do pick up patterns from the other case and in spite of their claims, I find them easier to scratch than the glass itself. I have a few scratches on mine from trying to wipe off fingerprints and dust. The back shield has an imprint from the back of the case as well.

I think that the the shields worked well on the old shiny backs of iPods and the original iPhone - but they worked best on the Windows Mobile screens that you use with an actual stylus, and those were more of a matte type screen anyway, and were way prone to gouges rather than just scratches.

I have a real inner debate on what to do about the new iPhone and how to protect it. I know I'll get it in a case to protect the back (and apparently keep my fingers away from the antenna!) but I just don't know if I want to put a shield on the face yet.

The good news, is that if you like the shield, all you have to do is mail it in to them an they will mail you a replacement, unless you live near a mall that has a kiosk. If you do, then they will remove and replace it for you for a nominal fee. They DO stand behind their products, so getting a replacement will be simple enough.

kiosk? What an odd thing. What else would one of these places sell? Not sure how to ID one. They can tell it is an Invisible Shield? I purchased it on line at the vendors web site. Wonder, if Best Buy would do it. Last time there they had some, not sure if they had ones for the iPad.

BB won't do a warranty exchange, they just aren't set up for it.

A mall kiosk for Zagg is pretty easy to identify, it says Invisible Shield all over it, and they usually have a TV playing a video loop of how durable the shields are. And, the only other things they sell are Zagg products, like headphones. They aren't usually hurting for business - they can put a shield on pretty much any kind of phone, and they do enough installations to keep them busy.

My personal experience is that at the kiosks, they can't tell the difference between one type of wet applied shield from another, and will use the warranty price and replacement. Since you honestly have the correct one for the warranty, you don't really have to worry about it though. If you have a mall with an Apple store, I know they try to get the kiosk as close to the Apple store as they can.

They do have iPad shields, that's where I had mine put on.

I've yet to put a shield on my latest 3GS, and I'm no worse the wear for it. Sure, some hairline scratches, but who cares?

Like like the feel of it over hard glass, and gives better grip, with oily finger prints all over it. Other problem, will be taking it to the beach, sand. You can't help getting some on you. ;) The scratches would drive me nuts. :) The finger prints, do.
