Mix and Match WinterBoard Icons

Hey Guys! If you have a Jailbroken iPad and you have Winterboard, you can select which icons you want from the different Themes you like. You can even change which icons go with an App. You will need iFile and GoodReader to do this. To change the icon name go into the Theme file you want. Go to the icon folder. Find the icon you want and cut and paste it to the GoodReader Document folder. Exit iFile and go to GoodReader and rename the icon with whatever App you want. Make sure it is named exactly as it appears on the home screen. Go back into iFile and find the icon you just replaced. Take the replaced icon and paste it directly in the stash file. That way you can find it easily later if you want to change it back. Go back to the GoodReader Document folder and cut the New icon out and paste it back to the Icon folder where you got it from. Respring and your renamed icon is set. You can do this as many times as possible. Be sure to follow steps. It is very tedious so do one at a time so you don't lose track.

To add icons from different Themes to your Favorite Theme you like,go to the icon folders of the Themes you like and cut out the icons you want. Paste them into the icon folder of you favorite Theme. Be sure to Cut the icons out that you are Replacing.

Do you know if there are instructions to do this directly in the iPhone filesystem? I'm assuming that there must be an easier way to SSH into the phone and move the files that way, rather than hopping between GoodReader and iFile.

Or am I missing something?

There is an App out called Icon Harvester. It allows you to do the same thing, just three times easier:)

You can do it from a Computer also. I'm not familiar with that method though. SSH I've heard of it.

I'm cheap! I'd rather do it by hand, that way I don't have to spend any more money!
I hope that helped.

There are a few websites where you can download icons of any kind. these icons must be downloaded in .png format 64 by 64 or 60 by 60 pixels for use on iPad and iPhone. These too can be added to Winterboard Themes. Google PNG Icons for iPhone.
