Wow - did you take that yourself? If so, what did you use?

I don't like spiders in general, but I've taken a couple of photos of them close up before, but never from that good an angle. I still want to know what photo equipment was used for the shot!

I love jumping spiders. They're awesome.

That photo could have been taken with any decent macro lens on any decent DSLR.

Yep. I have a Nikon D90, but don't have a good macro lens yet. I decided to drop the 800 bucks on the iPad instead...LOL.

Yeah, it's my photo. Taken with a (relatively) inexpensive Canon PowerShot.

Re: ANIMALS: Jumping Spider [1024x1024]

Those Canons must have a great macro mode to get so close up!

I just got a Pentax Optio W90 for macro shots. The macro lenses for the D90 run about $900 for one that will focus from 1 inch. The Pentax is a point and shoot, but it has a digital microscope mode that will focus from .5cm - which is awesome! It doesn't have a viewfinder or image stabilization tho, and that makes it a little harder, but I've had some fun getting in the sand to take pictures of tiny little shells and stuff on the beach. It also "rugged" and has an underwater mode which I have not really had a chance to test yet, but hope to be able to soon! Best of all, it was only about $300 - way less than the Nikon, and will be able to go places I wouldn't take a DSLR.
