iPad - sync movie clips

I have some video clips that I cannot transfer to my first generation iPad. I have tried MOV, MP$ and AVI formats but consistently get the message "was not copied because the video format is not supported by the iPad". Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas? The clips all play on a PC using iTunes or Media Player.

i've already written this in another tread but once again: download VLC palyer or AV player and sync any video files to them through itunes. works 100% just in a few clicks. good luck!
