Apple has extended its Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro warranty to cover "sticking/repeating keys, sensor issues, problems with the keyboard’s magnetic connector, connection issues, and unresponsive keys," according to 9to5Mac. The new extended repair program allows customers to receive repairs or replacements up to three years after the original purchase date. Customers experiencing one or more of the listed issues can take their Smart Keyboard to an Apple retail location or authorized service provider for repairs free of charge.
The new warranty covers the Smart Keyboard for both the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models.
All Apple hardware, including accessories, is covered by the company's Limited Warranty for 1-year. The new Smart Keyboard policy extends the Limited Warranty by an additional 2-years for all the issues listed above.
The new warranty was outlined for all Apple retail staff and authorized service providers in an internal memo obtained by 9to5Mac. Apple will also be issuing refunds to customers who previously paid for a replacement keyboards experiencing the listed issues.
The Smart Keyboard for the iPad Pro is available through apple.com starting at $149 for the 9.7-inch model.
