This Friday, September 1st, Disney kicks off its Force Friday II promotion in over 20,000 retail locations across 30 different countries. Apple retail locations will be participating in the event, and has invited customers to participate in free Star Wars workshops over the weekend.

Retina iPad mini Pops Up at Some Apple Retail Locations

Several outlets are reporting that the iPad mini with Retina display is available for walk-in purchases at a few Apple retail locations. Up until now, the second-generation tablet was only available through Apple.com, with the option to have it shipped to the nearest Apple store for in-store pickup.

Apple has since removed any mention of Personal Pickup from its iPad page, and the new device has been spotted for sale at a number of New York City stores. However, supply is still very limited, and you should order now if you plan to receive an iPad mini before the holidays... Especially if want a cellular model.

Apple Stores to Open Early for iPad 3?

According to an advertisement sent to 9to5Mac Apple stores will be opening at 8am on Friday, March 16th for the launch of the third generation iPad. My local Apple store says they will be opening normal hours (10am), but told me to keep checking the Apple website in case anything changes.

Apple has reversed course on its payment rules for iPad purchases. Before today, customers were required to buy iPads with credit or bank debit cards. Modeled after the long-standing policy in place for iPhones, Apple Stores refused to accept cash from iPad buyers.
