Not to be outdone by Target, Best Buy is also offering the original iPad mini for only $199. That's $100 off the normal suggested retail price for Apple's 7-inch tablet. Just like Target, this deal is in-store only and does not apply to Best Buy's online store.
Best Buy is also offering a great deal for customers looking to buy a 4G LTE iPad Air. You can nab any cellular model iPad Air at the same price as the Wi-Fi only equivalent, as long as you are willing to agree to a new two-year contract with Verizon Wireless. This deal is similar to T-Mobile's Operation Tablet Freedom, which allowed users to upgrade their Wi-Fi only iPad model to any cellular model.
This means you can buy a 16GB 4G LTE iPad Air for $499 instead of $629. Not a bad deal if you don't mind becoming a Verizon Wireless customer.
Apple products are not normally heavily discounted, but retailers have been offering some great and creative deals this year. Big box stores such as Walmart have been practically giving the iPhone 5c away for free, and this is the lowest price we have seen for the iPad mini since it was released.
Remember, Target and Best Buy's iPad mini deals are for the original 7-inch Apple tablet. The first-generation iPad mini does not have a Retina display like other current Apple products, but it will support iOS 8 when the OS is released in September. This means the first iPad mini still has a lot of life left in it and makes it a great buy at $200.
