UPDATE: iOS 4.2 comes to the iPad on Monday November 22, 2010 at 10AM PST.
Apple plans to release the new iOS 4 operating system (formerly known as iPhone OS 4) on the iPad in Fall 2010.
iOS 4 will ship on the iPhone 4 starting June 24. Existing iPhone 3G and 3GS customers can get the firmware update on June 21 for free. iPod Touch (except first generation) owners also receive a free upgrade.
As soon as we have more information on a release date for iOS 4 on the iPad we'll let you know.
