Typo made a name for itself last year after the accessory company was sued by BlackBerry for patent infringement over its iPhone 5/5s keyboard case. After several lawsuits Typo has finally decided to move on and instead launch a keyboard case for the iPad. The Typo keyboard for the iPad Air/Air 2 is now available for $189 through typokeyboards.com.
The official website doesn't offer much information about the keyboard except that it has full size keys, it is "ultra-thin" and that it features a friction hinge for multiple viewing angles. Pretty standard stuff when it comes to third-party iPad keyboards. What does set Typo apart from other accessory makers is that the company is backed by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.
The original mission of Typo was to create an external keyboard for the iPhone to make typing easier, but now CEO Laurence Hallier says Typo is all about making it easier to conduct business on the iPad, especially when traveling.
The company is also currently accepting pre-orders for an iPad mini keyboard. The Typo for iPad mini is $189.
