What type of camera does the iPad Air 3 have?
Update: Apple did not release an iPad Air 3 like expected on March 21, 2016. Instead Tim Cook and team unveiled the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. You can learn more about the iPad Pro camera here.
Little is known about the rumored iPad Air 3 at this time, especially regarding information about the camera. Apple hasn't drastically improved the iPad camera since it first introduced the technology on the iPad 2 in 2011. The iPad Air 2 was the first Apple tablet to feature an 8MP iSight camera. Apple also decided to stick to the 8MP camera for its iPad Pro model released last year. Rumors have indicated that the iPad Air 3 will resemble a smaller version of the iPad Pro. This suggests that the iPad Air 3 will feature the same camera as its predecessors, however, Apple did recently bump the iPhone camera from 8MP to 12MP with its iPhone 6s lineup. Perhaps the iPad Air 3 will be Apple's first iPad to feature a 12-megapixel iSight camera, but we won't know for sure until it is officially unveiled.
Recent rumors have suggested that the iPad Air 3 will be Apple's first tablet to ship with a rear-LED flash.
