How do I make my iPad read text to me?

You can make your iPad read text in a variety of different ways. There are several iPad Speech options in the Accessibility section located in the General section of the Settings app. Just tap the Speech panel to enable:

  • Speak Selection - Adds a Speak button when you select any text.
  • Speak Screen - Allows you to prompt your iPad to read the content on your screen with a two finger down swipe.
  • Speak Auto-text - Your iPad will automatically speak any auto-corrections and auto-capitalizations.

You can also ask Siri to read any web page by just asking him/her. For example you can say, "Hey Siri, read the wikipedia page about pencils."
