Apple on Friday pulled iOS 9.2.3 for all 9.7-inch iPad Pro models after complaints about a bug affecting some modes began to pile up on support forums and messgage boards. 9.7-inch iPad Pro owners who did not already update will no longer have access to the update or be prompted to download the new software. This makes iOS 9.3.1 the latest available version to all 9.7-inch iPad Pro owners not currently running iOS 9.2.3.
Apple told iMore that they are aware of the problem and currently working on a fix.
"We're working on a fix for an issue impacting a small number of iPad units that are receiving an error when trying to update the software," said Apple. "We'll issue an update as soon as possible."
Some iPad Pro owners have been reporting that their 9.7-inch models have been sporadically crashing or receiving an "Error 56" message that bricks their device. After receiving the error message users are instructed to connect to iTunes to restore, but doing so does not solve the problem, leaving their tablet unusable.
Apple has not provided any details on what is causing the issue and they did not offer any temporarily help to those affected by the bug. iPad Pro owners running iOS 9.2.3 will just have to sit back and wait until Apple releases another update.
