Mobile games based on the popular Warhammer franchise have seen a big improvement ever since Games Workshop begun licensing the IP to other developers. Third-party game studios have been busy pumping out steady stream of popular Warhammer titles, such as Regicide, to Steam and the Apple App Store, and more Warhammer games are in the works. For example, developer Slitherine plans to follow up its Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon with a spinoff titled, Da Orks.
The second installment of Slitherine's Warhammer franchise continues to follow the Armageddon war, but this time around players will be in control of Orks instead of the Imperial Forces. In the game players will lead their army against the Imperial forces of the Armageddon Steel Legion and Space Marines. The game will feature iconic Armageddon characters such as Ghazghkull Thraka, Mad Dok Grotsnik, and it will include an 18 scenario campaign spread across 3 acts.
Slitherine is currently looking for beta testers for Da Orks. New and old Warhammer fans can apply to be a beta tester at slitherine.com. They are looking for PC, Mac or iPad testers only.
For those who have never played a Warhammer title, especially the Armageddon series, it is a hex-based, turn-based strategy game set in a fantasy world of Dwarfs, the Undead and other D&D-like creatures. The mobile versions are based on the original tabletop wargame created by Games Workshop, which was designed to be played with paintable, fantasy miniatures. The Warhammer series has spawned several spinoffs like Blood Bowl, and has been released as various PC and console titles over its long history.
