New iOS Games and Apps of the Week: Animation Throwdown and more

It was a big week for Apple, not only did the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus officially launch today, but iOS 10 was released earlier in the week. The big change to the App Store came in the form of Stickers, and a Notify me option for the eagerly anticipated release of Super Mario Run. iOS fans can access the Super Mario Run App Store page early to sign up to be notified when the game is released. To sign up for the Super Mario Run notification, just tap the Notify button like you would do to download a game.

Kongregate released its collectible card game, Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards on Thursday. The game features tons of characters from popular Fox cartoons, such as Bob's Burgers and King of the Hill. Animation Throwdown is free-to-play but features IAPs for additional in-app currency and the option to watch ads for bonus items.

While the game does a great job of featuring tons of both main and minor characters, it is kind of simple to play. There doesn't seem to be much strategy to the actual card battles, but it is fun combining cards to create alternative characters, such as Drunk Bullock from Family Guy.

Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards is available now on the App Store. In includes single player quests, multiplayer battles, tons of refrences to your favorite adult animated shows and more.
