Apple held its first major event at the Steve Jobs theater at the new Cupertino campus on Tuesday, September 12th. After a brief tribute to Jobs, Apple CEO Tim Cook and team introduced several new products including the redesigned iPhone X. Here's a brief look at all the hardware unveiled at the event.
iPhone X - Starting at $999 the iPhone X is a high end 5.8‑inch handset jam packed with new features like Face ID, wireless charging and advanced camera functions. It boasts an edge-to-edge OLED Super Retina Display with "accurate, stunning colors, true blacks, high brightness, and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio," according to Apple.
Apple also claims it is designed with "the most durable glass ever in a smartphone" and it is the first iPhone to ship without a physical Home button. Instead users can use Face ID and swipe gestures to unlock and navigate their device.
The iPhone X is powered by Apple's new A11 Bionic chip with 64-bit architecture, and it is equipped with dual 12MP cameras, Qi wireless charging support and iOS 11.
The iPhone X will be available for pre-order starting on Friday, October 27 at 12:01 AM Pacific time. It is available in Silver or Space Gray in 64GB or 256GB storage capacities.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus - For those who do not want to shell out $999 for the iPhone X, there is the iPhone 8 or the iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone 8 models feature Apple's all‑new glass design, wireless charging, True Tone equipped Retina HD displays, A11 chip and 12MP camera. Both models will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 15 at 12:01 AM Pacific time and begin shipping on September 22nd. The iPhone 8 starts at $699 and the iPhone 8 Plus starts at $799.
Apple Watch Series 3 - The Apple Watch finally breaks its tether to the iPhone gaining LTE capabilities. Apple Watch owners can now leave there iPhone at home and make and accept calls from their wrist. It also ships with GPS and new features thanks to watchOS 4. The new software comes with improved Siri features, watch faces and improved fitness tracking capabilities. The third-generation Apple Watch will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 15 starting at $399.
Apple TV 4K- The fourth-generation Apple TV with 4K HDR video will also be available for pre-order on September 15 starting at $170.
