Yesterday, Apple announced its second "low cost" iPad during its education event in Chicago. The new iPad is available now through apple.com, at Apple retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers, like B&H and Best Buy. It boasts an A10 Fusion chip with embedded M10 coprocessor making it 40-percent faster with 50 percent faster graphics performance than the previous 9.7-inch model.
Other specs include a 2048-by-1536 resolution at 264 ppi display, an 8-megapixel camera, Touch ID, 3.5mm headphone jack and a Lightning connector.
The updated iPad is available in four different configurations. As always, you can choose between a WiFi-only or a cellular model in 3 colors (Silver, Gold, Space Gray), and two different storage capacities -- 32GB and 128GB.
Pricing starts at $329 for the 32GB WiFi model. The 128GB model is $100 more at $429. The cellular models are $459 and $559 for the 32GB and 128GB storage capacities. Best Buy wants you to pre-order the new 9.7-inch iPad through bestbuy.com so it is offering a $25 E-Gift Card with all pre-orders. Besides the already low price of $329 for basically an iPad Pro, this is the only deal currently being offered for the new iPad. The E-Gift Card will be automatically added to your order when you add a new 9.7-inch model to your cart.
Some of the celluer models have already sold out, but currently all WiFi models in all three colors are available on the Best Buy website. Shipping times are listed as April 2 to April 3rd.
