How to livestream the 90th Academy Awards on your iPad or other Apple devices

90th Academy Awards

The 90th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 4 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA. This year there are a variety of ways to watch, including on Facebook via the pages of ABC and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

Die hard fans can begin their Oscar parties at 6:30 ET/3:30 PT with a livestream of The Oscars: All Access. You can watch the Oscars pre-show on your Apple TV through the ABC News app. Everyone else can just point their browsers to Oscars.com. This includes your iPad, iPhone, laptop, PC and so on.

How to stream the 2017 Oscars: Watch the 89th Academy Awards live

Oscars 2017

ABC always live streams the Academy Awards at ABC.com and on the WATCH ABC app. Unfortunately the official live stream is normally limited to a handful of major cities and requires a cable/satellite subscription. Last year the live stream through both the official website and app was only available in Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, and San Francisco.

ABC to Live Stream Full Academy Awards for the First Time

ABC announced today that it will stream the entire live broadcast of the 86th Academy Awards to iOS devices, but there are a few catches. The Watch ABC app requires that you have a paid subscription with one of ABC's cable partners to stream live content, and the live stream will only be available these select cities: Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, and San Francisco.

iOS users who do not live in one of the select cities will still have access to ABC's behind-the-scenes Oscars coverage. The Watch ABC app is free to download from the Apple App Store. It supports all devices running iOS 5 or later.
