iPad Grabs Top Spot as Preferred Black Friday Shopping Tool

Apple's iPad and iPhone were the go to devices for Black Friday shoppers this year. More than three-fourths of all mobile traffic to online retailers during Thanksgiving and Black Friday was generated by Apple devices.

Black Friday

"The iPad dominated tablet traffic at 88.3 percent followed by the Barnes and Noble Nook at 3.1 percent, Amazon Kindle at 2.4 percent and the Samsung Galaxy at 1.8 percent", according to IBM's 2012 Black Friday Report.

iPad Tops Holiday Wish Lists Again, Wii U a Close Second

Kids aged 6 to 12 want an iPad for the holidays more than anything else this year. According to a survey conducted by Nielsen Wire, 48% of kids surveyed said they want an iPad, and 39% want a Nintendo Wii U. Apple's iPod touch and iPad mini tied for third with 36% of the vote, and the iPhone beat out other smartphones, gaming consoles and tablets with 33% of children's interest.

2012 Top Holiday Gifts

While the 4th generation iPad and iPad mini are readily available from Apple and other retailers, the Wii U is largely sold out across the U.S.. Holiday shoppers have been turning to third party sellers, and online tracking services such as whohas.it to find a Wii U console. Scott Moffitt, executive vice president of marketing at Nintendo of America, said Nintendo is doing everything they can do to ensure the Wii U will be on store shelves this shopping season. However, some are accusing retail stores of hoarding Wii U consoles for Black Friday sales. Either way, it looks like Apple products will be the much easier gifts to find and buy this year.

Your iPad Accessories Are Safe... For Now!

It seems pretty likely that the next-generation iPhone will feature a brand new, mini dock connector when it's announced this fall. But what about all the other iOS devices rumored to be launching this year? According to iMore, Apple plans to make the new connector a standard across its entire iOS lineup. Meaning, Apple will announce a new iPhone, the rumored iPad mini, a new iPod nano, a new iPod touch and an updated version of the 9.7-inch iPad at a special event on September 12. Not only does this seem highly unlikely, Zdnet's Adrian Kingsley-Hughes points out it's basically impossible.

iPad 3

While it makes sense for Apple to want all its products to feature the same dock connector, it doesn't make sense for the company to refresh all its products at once. Not only is there the obvious reasons, like launching a new iPad six months after the last model was released, there is also the supply chain to consider.

Fanhattan Adds NBC, HBO and Cinemax to Movie Browsing App

Streaming may be a great way to watch your favorite movies and TV shows, but content is fragmented amongst the many content providers vying for our money. Fanhattan for the iPad makes searching for content easier by aggregating it from multiple sources. This allows iPad owners to use one app to browse available movies and TV shows, instead of using multiple provider apps like Netflix and Hulu Plus.

iPad Movie Streaming

Fanhattan has recently grown their roster to 14 different providers by adding networks like NBC, HBO, The CW, and Cinemax. Fanhattan has also added a "watch list" to help users navigate the 175,000 movies and TV show available through the various services. You can even save upcoming movies and TV shows that haven't been released yet. Fanhattan will then notify you when the content has become available to watch on your device.
