Paper by FiftyThree Launches Mix, a New Way to Share and View Skecthes

Developer FiftyThree has updated its iPad sketching app with a new open platform for "creating together". Mix is a social network for sharing and viewing sketches and drawings created on the Paper app. Users can share their own portfolio and view other works within the app or via the Mix website. Users can also use Mix to gain inspiration from other users, collaborate on open sketches and search various channels like Learn, Sketch, Play, Write, Design, and Think.

The Paper by FiftyThree app with Mix is available to download on the Apple App store for free with additional tools available as in-app purchases. Paper by FiftyThree promises to offer a simple way for anyone to sketch ideas with "no fussy settings or distractions," and it was rewarded the iPad App of the Year & Apple Design Award in 2012.

The app supports all iPad models running iOS 7 or later and it is compatible with FiftyThree's stylus Pencil.

NFL Now Delivers Personalized Videos of Your Favorite Team to Your iPad, iPhone or Apple TV

Just in time for pre-season, NFL Now has hit the App Store. The new app "delivers a personalized video stream of your favorite NFL teams, players and coaches right to your iPad or iPhone," according to the official App Store description. The app also promised to deliver hundreds of videos based on your personalized tastes and real-time in-game highlights.

The app is free to download but premium access will cost users from the U.S., Mexico and the U.K. $1.99 a month. NFL fans in the rest of the world will have to shell out $4.99 a month for full access. The service is also now available as a new channel on Apple TV.

Kodak Releases Free iPad App to Create Personalized Photo Books

Kodak is back with a new app for the iPad after officially exiting bankruptcy and filing a patent infringement lawsuit against Apple in 2012. The app allows users to "create custom, high-quality photo books, prints, and enlargements," according to the official App Store description.

Users can create their own photo books by using images from their camera roll, Facebook, Instagram or Flickr accounts, and they can choose from variety of templates and design backgrounds to customize their photo book experience. The app features an easy to use drag-and-drop interface, and Kodak's SmartFit technology which automatically re-sizes images so there is no need need to crop anything out of a photo. Other features include Kodak's Perfect Touch Enhancement technology for cleaning up images, and the ability create soft or hard cover photo books that can then be picked up at Target or Bartell Drugs retail locations.

Comedy Central has a lot of apps, but each app is normally dedicated to one show like The Daily Show or Colbert Report. Now fans can access all their favorite CC episodes on one app thanks to Comedy Central's latest release for iOS devices.

The Comedy Central app offers new episodes of shows such as South Park one day after they air on television. Users without a cable subscription can access the app's original digital shorts, while cable subscribers can view full seasons of their favorite series. WedStyle: A Wedding App That Helps You Plan Your Special Day or Ruin Someone Else's

WedStyle is a new social network app that is a lot like Pinterest but for wedding planning only. The app not only allows you to search through thousands of wedding photos for inspiration, but you can also upload your own images to share with the WedStyle community. Users can then up vote or down vote your images to help you make various wedding decisions.

You can easily set up a WedStyle profile by syncing it to your Facebook page, Twitter, or by simply creating a new account using your email. Once your profile is created, you can then choose to peruse ALL the uploaded images, or search through categories like "Wedding Dresses," "Bridesmaid Dresses, "Beauty and Hair," and so on. If you see an image that you like, simply tap the + button to save it to one of your user created "Boards". Voting on each image is as simple as hitting the thumbs up or thumbs down icons.

Barnes & Nobles Launches Nook App for iOS Devices

After discounting its Nook Simple Touch to $99, Barnes & Noble launched its new Nook Video app for iOS devices. The app allows users to rent or buy movies and TV shows directly from Barnes and Noble's streaming service, without the need of a subscription. Nook Video also supports UltraViolet movies for users who want to access their digital collections.

The Nook Simple Touch sale and new video app comes after the surprise resignation of Barnes & Noble CEO William Lynch, and a 34% drop in revenue due to poor Nook tablet sales. In June, the book retailer announced it would stop making tablets itself, and would start using an unnamed third party to manufacture black-and-white Barnes & Noble-branded e-readers.

Comedy Central has released a free app giving users access to over 6,000 stand-up comedy videos. The CC: Stand-Up app features live comedy performances from over 700 different comedians including favorites like Kevin Hart, Louis C.K and Daniel Tosh.

The app makes it easy to discover new talent, and find videos from your favorite comedians with its Search and Discovery modes. The Discovery mode suggests new stand-up routines by locating related videos based on comedians and topics you like to watch. Featured mode highlights Comedy Central specials, and offers playlists like the greatest hits from top comedians. The app also features the usual Twitter and Facebook integration, so you can share your favorite routines with family and friends.

Funny or Die's Digital Magazine is Now Free for the iPad

It looks like Funny or Die's experiment to see if they "could create a product people would be willing to pay for," has failed. The comedy website has decided to start offering its digital magazine to iPad users for free. The Occasional was originally launched in 2012 for $2 an issue, but now all six back issues, and all future issues, will be available to iOS users for zero dollars a month.

The iPad app lampoons traditional and gossip magazine formats, and includes famous contributors such as Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis and Sarah Silverman. The Occasional also delivers an interactive experience with games, videos and audio clips. Past articles have included a sex advice column purportedly written by "Rick Santorum", and a fake gossip section.
