The Chronic Dev Team has released Absinthe 2.0.4 with iPad 2,4 support. The new iPad 2 was originally not supported due to its unique 32nm A5 chip. The iPad 2,4 now joins the original iPad, original iPad 2 and iPad 3 on the list of supported devices.

Pod2g made a few tweets about the iPad 2 and iPad 3 prior to HITB's announcement:

Any people of #HITB2012AMS has an iPad2,4? Model number: either MC954 or MC989. Please check in Settings / General / About”

Untethered iPad 3 Jailbreak Coming in a Couple of Weeks

I was a little nervous that I had jumped the gun by announcing that an iPad 3 jailbreak was coming soon, but I guess I was right. Pod2g has announced via his blog that iPad owners can "expect a release in a couple of weeks."

iPad 3

Pod2g is also finished testing the jailbreak on all the available iOS devices. This means that the next step should be a public release. The iOS hacker tweeted that the untethered jailbreak works on all three iPad models, the iPhone 4 and 4S. The iPod 3G, iPhone 3GS and ATV3 have been left out (UPDATE: See list of supported devices below).

iOS 5.1 Jailbroken on the iPad 2

iPad hacker i0n1c published pictures of a jailbroken iPad 2 running iOS 5.1. i0n1c is known for releasing the iOS 4 untether that was killed when Apple released iOS 5.0. It's unknown if and when i0n1c will release his jailbreak to the public, but he did tweet: "Anyway so maybe the iPad 3 will not be jailbroken tomorrow, but on Monday or whenever I get my iPad 3."

iOS 5.1 Jailbreak

Pod2g, the hacker responsible for both the Corona and Absinthe jailbreak tools, is also working on finding vulnerabilities in 5.1. This is good news for people who accidently updated to 5.1 and lost their jailbreaks.

Jailbreak Reminder: Do Not Update iPad 2 to 5.1

The Chronic Dev team issued a simple warning to both veteran and amateur jailbreakers during the Apple iPad event yesterday. Along with the new iPad announcement Apple released iOS 5.1 for the iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S, the 3rd generation iPod touch, iPad and iPad 2. iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users should not update to iOS 5.1 if they want to keep their jailbreak. You've already jailbroken your iPad 2 using pod2g's exploit, but what should you do with it now? For starters you can add basic iPhone apps that Apple didn't include with their tablets for some unknown reason.

iOS developer Ryan Petrich's Belfry tweak allows you to add Clock, Voice Memos, Stocks, Calculator, Compass and Weather to the iPad. Both the Clock and Stock apps work with the iPad's native resolution, but the rest must be zoomed in to work better with its display.

The long awaited hack is so popular that the greenpois0n servers crashed from the large amount of downloads on Friday. Hopefully most of the iPhone 4S owners have already jailbroken their devices, and things will start getting a lot smoother this weekend. The iPhone Dev-Team is also working on incorporating the A5 jailbreak procedures into redsn0w, and plan to release a command-line interface (CLI) for advanced users in the future. We'll keep you updated.

The jailbreak community lost an important player in August when the hacker known as Comex accepted an internship with Apple. When asked if he was the company's final solution to their jailbreaking problems, Comex replied that he didn't think it was possible to stop people from finding exploits. It looks like he was right.

iUsers Lets You Share Your iPad With Multiple User Profiles [Video]

Tired of your kids mucking up your iPad with useless junk like Angry Birds? Want to keep your iPad separate from your wife but can only afford one? A new mod called iUsers looks to solve your problems by offering multiple user accounts for the iPad.

Just like your home computer, the new iPad tweak allows you to create multiple user profiles to keep your information separate. This is a great tool for families who need to share their device. Dad doesn't have to worry about losing important information, and kids can set their own game scores by keeping them divided.
