The popular New York photo and video equipment store, B&H, is offering several discounts on Apple's iPad Pro and iPad Air 2 just in time for the holidays. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro was launched in March, 2016. It is Apple's most current iPad model with the most up to date features and hardware, such as Apple's A9X chip, Touch ID, Apple Pay support, Siri and more. The 9.7-inch model also boasts the best camera found on any iPad with its 12-megapixel iSight camera, and it sports a 9.7-inch Retina display with 2048-by-1536 resolution.
iPad Air 2
9to5Mac reported this weekend that the iPad Air 2 has sold out at most major distributors. This is normally a sign that Apple is planning some kind of refresh, but as we have pointed out all year long, there have been zero rumors or leaks indicating we will see a new iPad model this year. Even the well trusted analyst KGI Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities has noted Apple will not release a new model iPad until 2017.
Kou believes Apple will launch three new iPad models, including a second-generation iPad Pro, an entry-level 9.7-inch iPad and a new unnamed 10.5-inch model. It is also still unknown if Apple plans to continue its 7-inch iPad mini lineup, or discontinue it entirely.
DisplayMate pitted the 9.7-inch iPad Pro against its predecessor the iPad Air 2, and decided that the new tablet features an "excellent top tier display." Even though the iPad Pro and iPad Air 2 share a lot of the same specifications, DisplayMate discovered that the Pro is "more than 20 percent brighter than the other current iPads." It also includes two color gamuts that deliver "color accuracy that is visually indistinguishable from perfect."
Unlike the original iPad Air which always seems to be on sale, deals for the iPad Air 2 have been few and far between since it was released last year. That's why customers who have been waiting for a deal on Apple's latest tablet should check out the Best Buy Weekly Ad for April 26 to May 2. Best Buy is offering the 16GB Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad Air 2 model for only $499.99. That's $139 off the normal $629.99 price tag. Customers who buy a cellular tablet can also add it to their existing mobile plan for only $10 a month at Best Buy retail locations. This deal excludes T-Mobile but it is good for all the other major carriers like AT&T and Verizon Wireless.
