iPad 3 Redesigned Parts Already For Sale

Now that reports have surfaced of a possible February or March iPad 3 launch, Asian suppliers have started to offer iPad 3 components for sale. The latest part to spring up is a wholesale microphone flex cable ribbon, which according to photos from TVC-Mall is much different than its predecessor.

The new part, pictured above, could indicate a major redesign of the next generation iPad hardware. The site claims this microphone ribbon cable is an authentic replacement part for the iPad 3, however similar claims have had a mixed record when it comes to accuracy.

Leaked iPad 3 Parts Reveal Smaller Dock Connector

If the iPad 3 dock connector parts pictured below are real, then the next generation tablet will feature a slimmer, smaller connector. Although the parts have the same 30-pin configuration, the form factor is streamlined and would result in incompatibilities with current dock connector accessories. The parts were revealed by a Asian supplier website and represent an iPad 3 prototype design.

There's no telling if this iPad 3 prototype is the production model, however Macotakara claims the device is ready to be manufactured in January and could be released as early as March 2012. A change in the dock connector size would make the iPad 3 the first mobile device since the 2003 iPod not to use Apple's standard size cables.

Leaked Photo Reveals Possible iPad 3 Part

A Chinese website named Apple.pro, leaked a picture of a new Apple part purportedly from the iPad 3.

The internal component shown below, is labeled 821-1259, which is an increase from the iPad 2 part labeled 1180. Apple.pro thinks that this means the iPad 3 will be a brand-new model with a new design, and not the iPad 2 Plus, or iPad HD as previously rumored. The author also noted a white, outward-facing plug, and pointed to this as proof that the next-generation iPad will probably be offered in the same colors as the iPad 2.

According to Apple Insider, Apple.pro has a so-so record when it comes to Apple leaks. The website previously published early photos of the white and black front panels for the iPhone 4, but in 2009, they reported that Apple was working on a certain MacBook that never materialized.

Apple.pro also mentioned that Apple has launched an internal investigation into leaks, possibly meaning there will be far less in the future.
