Apple this week released two more ads promoting the iPad Pro. The new ads are part of an ongoing iPad Pro campaign using real tweets from real people, addressing real problems that the tablet can solve. The first ad posted above highlights the note taking capabilities of the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, while the second ad highlights all the other devices that the tablet can replace. You can watch the second ad posted below.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is in short supply ahead of the rumored next-generation iPad refresh in March, according to MacRumors. The Apple blog did a spot check of Apple's online store and third-party retailers, such as Best Buy, AT&T, and Verizon. MacRumors discovered that Apple store shipping times in the US have slipped from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks, and in-store pick ups are currently listed as arriving around March 3rd. While this isn't proof that a new iPad model is right around the corner, the largely backordered status of the 12.9-inch model at third-party retailers does make one wonder.
There's only one more shopping weekend before Christmas and Target is offering the 9.7-inch iPad Pro model at $150 less than Apple's normal $599 asking price. This makes the 32GB WiFi-only model only $1 more than Black Friday prices, and you don't have to deal with any unruly shoppers. This is also a much better deal than the discounts being offered by B&H, that we discussed earlier this week.
The popular New York photo and video equipment store, B&H, is offering several discounts on Apple's iPad Pro and iPad Air 2 just in time for the holidays. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro was launched in March, 2016. It is Apple's most current iPad model with the most up to date features and hardware, such as Apple's A9X chip, Touch ID, Apple Pay support, Siri and more. The 9.7-inch model also boasts the best camera found on any iPad with its 12-megapixel iSight camera, and it sports a 9.7-inch Retina display with 2048-by-1536 resolution.
After adding refurbished iPhone models to its online store on Monday, Apple has also added refurbished 9.7-inch iPad Pro models to the mix. Prices for the refurbished iPads range from $509 for the WiFi-only 32GB model (a saving of $90) to $789 for the 256GB Cellular model. All storage capacities and colors are available through the online store, however, they all are sold out at the time of this post. You can see a list of current iPad Pro prices here, as a comparison.
We don't cover a lot of iPad sales, mostly because Apple products are not commonly offered at a discount. This is why Best Buy's current deal on both the 12.9- and 9.7-inch iPad Pro is worth mentioning, even if it is only available for 1-day.
Best Buy is offering both models at a $100 discount. You can nab a 9.7-inch model starting at $499.99, or a 12.9-inch model starting at $699.99 . All four color options and capacities are currently available for the 9.7-inch model . The larger 12-inch model is only available in Gold, Gray, and Silver and in all 3 storage capacities.
Yesterday inside sources told the Japanese blog Mac Otakara that Apple plans to release 3 iPad models in 2017, and today the Chinese social network Weibo posted alleged benchmark scores for the rumored A10X chips that will power all 3 tablets. All iPad models ship with a more powerful version of Apple's latest processor. For example, the iPhone 6s is equipped with an A9 chip, and the current iPad Pro model is powered buy the faster A9X.
Now that the iPhone 7 has been available for a couple of weeks focus has switched to Apple's next-generation tablets, and today the first major iPad rumor was published by Japanese blog Mac Otakara (via Mac Rumors). Citing "reliable sources," Mac Otakara claims Apple will release three new iPad Pro models in Spring 2017. These will include a new 7.9-inch iPad mini model, a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro model and a new 12.9-inch model.
Apple tweaked its iPad Pro lineup on September 7, 2016 to match its current iPhone 7 lineup. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus introduced a new storage capacity option of 256GB. Apple has also added a 256GB option to the 12.9- and 9.7-inch iPad Pro lineup. Here are the current available 9.7-inch model prices and storage capacities after September 7:
9.7-inch iPad Pro WiFi-only
- 32GB - $599
- 128GB - $699
- 256GB - $799
9.7-inch iPad Pro WiFi + Cellular
The iPad Pro is almost 10 months old, which means it has been around long enough for Apple to start offering refurbished models. The 12.9-inch version is now available refurbished through Apple's online shop, starting at $679 for the 32GB WiFi-only model in Gold, Silver and Space Gray. You can also nab a refurbished cellular model for $919. That's $120 cheaper than a new WiFi-model and $160 off the 128GB cellular version .
