Universal releases first full trailer for upcoming Steve Jobs movie

Universal Pictures has released the first official trailer for the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle. The films stars Michael Fassbender as Jobs and Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak.

"Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, 'Steve Jobs' takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter."

Watch The Interview on Your iPad, Now Available on iTunes

Sony is either involved in one of the craziest stories of 2014, or one of the greatest PR stunts in Hollywood history. Everyone by now knows about the infamous Sony hack, which was linked to North Korea by U.S. investigators, and forced the film The Interview to be pulled from movie theaters. Sony decided instead to release the film to YouTube, Microsoft's Xbox Video and its own HD streaming service over the Christmas holiday. The Interview went on to make $15m in its first three days, and it is now available to rent or purchase through iTunes.

The Interview

iPad users can rent the film for 48-hours for $5.99 or purchase it for $14.99. The Interview stars Seth Rogen and James Franco as producers of a fictional tabloid show called Skylark Tonight. The film pokes fun at the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and resulted in a cyber attack on Sony from a group calling itself the Guardians of Peace. The data breach led to the leaking of confidential information, unreleased films such as the remake of Annie and internal emails from Sony Pictures Entertainment executives. Sony decided to pull The Interview and release it online after threats of attacks on theater chains caused 80% of them to cancel screenings of the film.

Disney Launches Movies Anywhere App for iOS Devices

Disney has released a new streaming service that allows iOS users to access and watch Disney, Pixar and Marvel movies that they've purchased from iTunes. Users can also use the Disney Movies Anywhere app to redeem digital copies of films or purchase new content from a library of hundreds of movies and never-before-seen programming.

Disney Movies Anywhere

The app requires that you create a Disney account then sync it with your iTunes account. Once your account is setup and synced, you will then be able to watch any Disney movie you've purchased from iTunes within the app. You will also be able to buy new movies and download any purchased Disney digital content to your iOS device for offline viewing.

Blockbuster Launches New On Demand App for iOS Devices

Blockbuster has had a rocky relationship with online streaming, but that hasn't stopped the rental company from bringing its On Demand service to iOS devices. Blockbuster on Demand was originally launched for Android, Roku and Samsung Smart TVs, but it didn't manage to make much of a splash. DISH Digital L.L.C. hopes the new iOS app will give its Blockbuster streaming service the push that it needs to keep the company alive.

iOS Movie Apps

Blockbuster on Demand allows users to stream thousands of movies in HD to any iOS device. There are no subscription plans, late fees, contracts or commitments. You just pay as you go... If you can get the app to work. My Blockbuster on Demand app keeps getting stuck at the start up screen every time I relaunch it. This might also explain why there are zero customer reviews in the App Store rating section.

Amazon Launches Instant Video App for the iPad

Amazon has released an Amazon Instant Video app for the iPad. The app features access to thousands of titles available from Prime Instant Video. It comes preloaded with a selection of top video titles, and you can add other titles directly from Amazon. Users can download purchased or rented movies to watch offline, and will have access to Amazon's Watchlist queue.

iPad Movie Streaming

The Instant Video app also allows you sync movies so you can finish watching on a different device. For example, if you start watching The Avengers on your iPad, you can pause and pick up where you left off on a Kindle Fire, PS3, PC, Mac, or hundreds of models of connected TVs and Blu-ray players.

Fanhattan Adds NBC, HBO and Cinemax to Movie Browsing App

Streaming may be a great way to watch your favorite movies and TV shows, but content is fragmented amongst the many content providers vying for our money. Fanhattan for the iPad makes searching for content easier by aggregating it from multiple sources. This allows iPad owners to use one app to browse available movies and TV shows, instead of using multiple provider apps like Netflix and Hulu Plus.

iPad Movie Streaming

Fanhattan has recently grown their roster to 14 different providers by adding networks like NBC, HBO, The CW, and Cinemax. Fanhattan has also added a "watch list" to help users navigate the 175,000 movies and TV show available through the various services. You can even save upcoming movies and TV shows that haven't been released yet. Fanhattan will then notify you when the content has become available to watch on your device.

Avengers Blu-ray Gets iPad Companion App

The Avengers Initiative: A Marvel Second Screen App for the iPad will feature character bios, exclusive photos, interactive comics, video content, and more. The app will be updated on a bi-weekly basis until the movie is released to DVD and Blu-ray on September 25, 2012.

iPad Applications

Sharp Agency in collaboration with Emu Creek Pictures has announced what they're calling the "world’s first interactive Horror iBook" entitled Return to Wolf Creek.

iPad Applications

The iBook takes readers on a spine-chilling journey back to Wolf Creek with never-before-seen deleted scenes, a 45 minute documentary (The Making of Wolf Creek), interviews and more. The iBook was designed to help fans get reacquainted with the 2005 horror film. New fans will also enjoy learning about the original film before Wolf Creek 2 hits theaters in 2013.

Walmart Brings Their Online Movie Streaming Service to the iPad, Closes MP3 Store

Walmart announced that they're closing their MP3 download store the same day they launched Vudu's movie streaming service for the iPad.

To avoid the restrictions of Apple's app store, the retail giant decided not to offer an iPad app. Instead the Vudu icon for your iPad home screen redirects you to the Vudu website, where you can rent or buy over 20,000 movies and watch them online. Rental prices start at $4 for standard definition to $6 for full high definition. I guess Walmart's low prices don't apply to the iPad. A copy of Beetlejuice goes for $9.99. You can probably find the same movie on DVD for $5 at a Walmart store, or stream it all month for the same price through Netflix.

Vudu also allows you to stream movies through other devices like Internet-capable HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc players and the PlayStation 3.
