New iPad Games and Apps of the Week: iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 and More

As you already know Apple (NYSE: AAPL) this week held its next-generation iPad keynote in Cupertino, California. During the event Tim Cook and his team unveiled the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 and 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display. The company also showcased some third-party editing apps on the new iPad Air to demonstrate what its new A8X hardware is capable of doing. In case you missed the event or needed a reminder, the first app was Pixelmator. The award-winning photo editor is currently available on the Mac Store for $29.99 and it will be available on the App Store for the iPad in a few weeks.

The second app showcased at the keynote was Replay. This app allows users to easily turn their photos and videos into movies even if they don't know anything about editing. Replay is available now for free on the App Store. It requires iOS 7.1 or later and runs four times faster with Apple's A8X chip. The entire iPad event and app demonstrations are now available to watch on Apple.com.

New iPad Games and Apps of the Week: Diner Dash, Weebly and More

Flo is back in the latest free-to-play version of Diner Dash for mobile devices. The "2015 Edition" is the first release from Glu Mobile, who acquired the original Diner Dash publisher PlayFirst in May 2014. The iOS version is basically the same time management game we have all come to love with in-app purchases. It features over 90 levels of soul crushing servitude, three environments and over 20 customers with distinctive personalities. The game is available now on the App Store for all devices running iOS 7.0 or later.

Here's a quick look at the rest of the noteworthy apps and games released for the iPad through 10/05/14 to 10/11/14. Apple's Free App of the Week is Jellies!. The game will be free on the Apple App Store until 10/16/14. New iPad Games of the Week: Pokémon TCG Online and More

It has been awhile since we looked at the newest iPad releases in the App Store because there haven't really been any to speak of, however, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have changed all that by releasing the first Pokémon game for mobile devices. The popular collectible card game Pokémon TCG Online is now available on the App Store for the iPad. This marks the first time Nintendo has embraced mobile gaming, even though the company didn't create the game specifically for mobile devices.

Pokémon TCG Online is just an extension of the online version of the game for Mac and Windows. Players can now access their Pokémon Trainer Club accounts and use their stored decks on both their iPad and computer. The iPad version doesn't offer anything new, besides the ability to play the game on your iPad. Pokémon TCG Online requires an internet connection, so you can't even really play it on the go, a Retina display iPad and iOS 7.0 to work. The game is now available to download for free on the App Store.

New iPad Games of the Week: Kingdom Rush 3 Announced, Call of Duty: Heroes Beta and More

There were zero noteworthy iPad releases this week but there were a few big game announcements. Ironhide Studios teased a new Kingdom Rush title on its Facebook page on Thursday. Ironhide posted an image with the tagline, "Every Adventure Has a Beginning," hinting that the third game in the series will be a prequel. The post also read, "A new world, a new race, a new ancient evil... Get ready for an awesome overwhelmingly new #KingdomRush game". Kingdom Rush 3 will be available this Fall.

The Call of Duty: Heroes beta is now available on the New Zealand and Australian App Stores. The game is a free-to-play strategy title like Clash of Clans. You can download Call of Duty: Heroes now if you have a New Zealand or Australian App Store account.

New iPad Apps and Games of the Week: Blood Bowl, Dragon Quest IV and More

This week Microsoft added some of the top requested features to its suite of Office apps for the iPad. All three apps, Word, Excel and Power Point, now feature the ability to send files as PDFs, use third party fonts and crop images. Powerpoint was also upgraded with a "Presenter View" option and Excel now supports third-party keyboards. Forsaken released the first trailer for Phantom Rift on Wednesday, and Square-Enix announced Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen will be coming to iOS devices.

Blood Bowl

Both Kingdom Rush and its sequel Kingdom Rush Frontiers were updated with a new stage called "Ruins of Nas'de". The new level is an endless quest where players can earn points by fending off waves of enemies from previous levels. You can share your highest scores with us here.

New iPad Apps and Games of the Week: Curse of Naxxramas, Modern Combat 5 and More

This was a big week for iPad releases and mobile gaming as a whole with San Diego Comic Con kicking off on Thursday. Here are some of the big stories that broke this week. On Tuesday, Blizzard Entertainment opened the first wing of the Curse of Naxxramas expansion for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. The Arachnid Quarter is free to play, but the next four wings will cost 700 gold per wing or $6.99 per wing. There are also bundle packages available for those who want to open all five wings at once, but they do not give you early access to the remaining four wings which will be opening weekly for the next four weeks.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout

AMC and Next Games released a very brief teaser trailer (see below) for The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land. AMC will be previewing the game at Comic Con booth #4237.

Bandai Namco is unveiling three games in San Diego at booth #121. The games include a collectible card game called Outcast Odyssey, Pac-Man Friends and a mobile version of the 2010 Xbox Live title Pac-Man CEDX.

As usual, there were only a handful of games released for the iPad this week, but Blizzard Entertainment did announce the release date for the first Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft expansion. The first level of "Curse of Naxxramas" will be available for free on July 22. The additional levels will be available weekly for 700 gold per wing or $6.99 per wing.

Battle Fleet 2

The iPad exclusive Pro Zombie Soccer Apocalypse was released as a pocket edition for the iPhone and iPod touch, and Game of Thrones Ascent was also updated to support the iPhone.

New iPad Apps and Games of the Week: Magic 2015, Minecraft 0.9.0 and More

It was a busy week for the App Store and iOS gaming news, Gameloft finally announced a release date for Modern Combat 5: Blackout. The first-person shooter will be available for both iOS and Android devices on July 24, 2014. The game will cost $6.99 and feature no in-app purchases, but it will require a Wi-Fi connection. In other gaming news, Angry Birds Star Wars II is now free on the App Store for the first time, Minecraft received its biggest iOS update ever (see below for complete list of improvements), and The Wolf Among Us finale "Cry Wolf" was released this week.

Here are this week's games and apps released for the iPad through 07/06/14 to 07/12/14. Apple's Free App of the Week is Assassin's Creed Pirates. The game app will be free on the Apple App Store until 07/17/14.

New iPad Apps and Games of the Week: Civilization Revolution 2, Monster Hunter Freedom and More

It was a slow week for App Store releases presumably due the the 4th of July holiday, but two highly anticipated premium games did make their App Store debuts. Civilization Revolution 2 is the sequel to the popular PC game Sid Meier's Civilization, and the PSP title Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has also been ported to iOS devices.

July iPad Games

Here are this week's games and apps released for the iPad through 06/29/14 to 07/05/14. Apple's Free App of the Week is Day One. The journal app will be free on the Apple App Store until 07/10/14. In other App Store news, Rayark released a trailer for its upcoming 3D, action game Implosion, Facebook Messenger has received iPad support and Denny's has teamed up with Atari to release a suite of breakfast-themed games.

New iPad Apps and Games of the Week: Stronghold 3, Deadpool Pinball and More

This week Amazon added popular HBO programming to its Instant Video app for iOS devices. iOS users with an Amazon Prime account can now stream older TV shows like The Sopranos, plus early seasons of recent hits such as True Blood and Boardwalk Empire. The Amazon Instant Video app is free to download and supports all iPad models running iOS 5.0 or later.

Stronghold 3: The Campaigns

YouTube today announced that it is bringing its YouTube Creator Studio to iOS in "coming weeks". The app allows YouTube creators to manage their videos on the go, and adds an "Audio Library" of free songs/sound clips, 60fps video and "Fan Funding" so users can give and receive tips.
