FDG Entertainment to Release Tower Defense Title Crystal Siege Later This Year

FDG Entertainment is working on an interesting tower defense title that should interest both fans and non-fans of the genre. Unlike most tower defense games where players normally sit back and watch the action unfold, Crystal Siege allows players to get in on the mayhem by controlling a griffin riding hero. The game also features "several types of environmental traps" that also gives it a more hands-on approach, according to Touch Arcade who got an early look at the game in 2013.

Touch Arcade has learned that FDG Entertainment finally plans to release Crystal Siege sometime in Q4 of 2014, which is good news since the game fell off the radar after being previewed at GDC 2013. FDG Entertainment has also released a new 30-second trailer which you can watch above.

Dead Defence Adds Fifth and Final Campaign

Dead Defence may be one of the hardest and confusing Tower Defense games ever released for iOS devices, but I'm sad to see it go. Developer PlayFlock has released version 1.3.0 which brings the fifth and final campaign. The update also introduces two new monsters, a new boss, and the ability to obtain crystals for free.

Dead Defence

How you obtained crystals without paying for them was confusing in earlier versions of the game, and trying to defeat some levels without them seemed outright impossible. Being able to get crystals for free may now allow players to actually advance to the end the game, or go back and obtain a perfect score on older boards.

Best Tower Defense Games for New iPad Owners

If you received a shiny new iPad for the holidays then you're probably looking for the best apps and games to download from the App Store. Tower Defense fans will definitely want to check out Kingdom Rush HD by Armor Games and The Creeps! HD by Super Squawk Software LLC.

iPad Games

I consider Kingdom Rush to be one of the best Tower Defense games ever created. It is one of the few iOS games that I took the time to beat on every level and earn every achievement. It's just that good!

In Kingdom Rush players must use their soldiers and mages to defend their kingdom against hordes of orcs, trolls and evil wizards. What separates Kingdom Rush from other TD games is the ability to use different abilities, spells and the environment to win each level. Users must choose the best tower combinations and special abilities to take down over 30 unique enemies. Timing, tower placement and utilizing the right tools for each individual situation is also important. The many different strategies, enemies and environments will keep you busy for hours.
